Patient and Public Involvement
Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) is also a crucial element of the innovation pathway and needs to be incorporated throughout the pathway to enable an innovation to progress forward. Consulting with relevant PPI groups can provide valuable insight into the acceptability of the innovation.
As part of our dedication to supporting equality, diversity and inclusion, we seek opportunities to develop innovation that represents the needs of our population.
When developing an innovation, the diverse voices of patients and members of the public are critical to ensuring that this appropriately represents the needs of the various communities it may serve. Establishing active partnerships with local patient and public involvement (PPI) groups and charities can:
- Identify areas of unmet need where an innovation may be best served
- Support user testing of a new innovation providing valuable feedback
- Improve the quality of promotional materials such as marketing images, product descriptions and leaflets through co-design and co-production
Collectively, this involvement considers the patient journey at key stages of the innovation which offers a different perspective that enriches an innovation.
