Overview

Newcastle Health Innovation Partners (NHIP) is an Academic Health Science Centre (AHSC) that brings together excellence in research, health education and patient care. Our partners include Newcastle University; Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust; Newcastle City Council and the Academic Health Science Network for North East and North Cumbria.

By cultivating collaboration for health and care research, innovation, education and training between our partners, NHIP aims to improve the physical and mental health of our local community, address health inequalities and generate economic growth.

Support we offer

Our partners work collaboratively to translate research and innovation into real world benefit. Key parts of our programme include:

    • Two subcommittees, bringing together partner organisations to develop and deliver activity in their respective areas. They are the Research and Innovation Strategy Group and Education & Training Group
    • Four Academic pillars: Ageing and Multiple Long-Term Conditions, Rare Disease, Diagnostics, and Therapeutics.
    • The NHIP Academy – providing career development opportunities for health and care researchers.

Eligibility criteria

Must be one of our five partner organisations. Our partners include Newcastle University; Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust; Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust; Newcastle City Council; and Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria.
